Outdoor Fun at River Top ResortRiver Top Resort is all about luxury and privacy but guests will be surrounded by all kinds of outdoor fun. Literally steps out your door is the lower Mountain Fork River. River Top Resort sits 30 feet above the river on a three acre long bluff giving you 500 feet of river frontage. This portion of the river flows out of Broken Bow Lake dam and is almost always a steady flow of cool water; great for floating almost year round!
The
calm water on this stretch of the river makes for great paddling, especially
for kids in kayaks or a couple taking a peaceful canoe ride up and down
the river. But just a short distance upstream you will find more white
water fun and just below the lake you will find trophy trout fishing in
the dam tailwaters. Kayak and canoe outfitters are just 10 minutes away
from the cabin and the most popular take-out on the river is just a few
hundred yards downstream. Guests have access to a primitive boat ramp adjacent
to the property. The boat ramp area is a great place for
kids to play and fish and to take out kayaks and canoes.
River Top Resort is surrounded by Weyerhaeuser Company timberlands
and dirt roads. Little River National Wildlife Refuge is just 5 minutes from the resort. These are great place to take a quiet walk, go for
a mountain bike ride, or make a four-wheeling adventure. Wildlife
abounds in the area including white-tailed deer, wild turkey, wood ducks,
bald eagles. In the evening, relax on the deck or hot tub
with a cold adult beverage and listen to the chorus of crickets, tree frogs,
whip-poor-wills, owls and coyotes!
If you aren’t familiar with the Broken Bow and McCurtain County area of Southeast Oklahoma you may be surprised to hear of all the outdoor fun you can find. Broken Bow Lake is a deep, cold, mountain lake with outstanding fishing and major lake water sports (boating, skiing, jet skis; rental are available at the marina.) Hunting, birding, ATV riding and mountain biking are all very popular on the thousands of public forest acres in the area.
